On November 1, 1937, National Southwestern Associated University was founded. On the same day, more than 1000 freshmen received their textbook "Freshman Readings in English". The university, which existed for only 8 years, had two Nobel laureates among its alumni and played a pivotal role in the history of Chinese education. And one of their compulsory courses is "Freshman Readings in English".
